"I never hang my life on the wheel of fortune, whether I win or lose, I make my own decisions."

Gloria is a troubling character, or more specifically her role in House on the Edge of the Park is. She befriends the half wit Ricky, innocent seeming enough, but who sits firmly under the thumb of the more brutish Alex. Both men have been invited to a party at the upper class home of a seemingly random couple, except the party is an elaborate plan to seek revenge upon Alex, who a year earlier was responsible for the rape and murder of one half of the couple’s sister. In the meantime, the clash of classes and deliberate riling up of Alex’s dark nature will see Gloria flirting with Ricky, being assaulted by Alex, whilst a reluctant Ricky pathetically attempts to intervene, until Gloria turns on Ricky only to then end up having sex with him.

It’s by no means a particularly refined film, but there is a little nugget of something, or other in this story. If you can let the whacky, dated wardrobe, décor and music and wonky plot go, you get a rape/revenge, home invasion type horror that is trying to highlight class wars and a bourgeoisie, above the-law approach to justice.
